Now until 10-8-17 : Plein Aire painting: Pick your favorite spot along the trails and do a water color, oil. Pastel colored pencil rendition of the landscape; real or fantasy! Artists will gather at the old Oakwood Chapel in Dedication Valley Sunday Oct. 8 at 2 PM to share their art works. 9-23-17 ESF Community Service Day –SUNY-ESF students and staff will be doing “Random Acts of Community Service” ( Well, OK –they aren’t THAT random) some of which are connected to trail maintenance along the MC Trails. 10-15-17 3 PM “There is a Kind of Magic Here” Paul Harvey accompanied by Bob Gates of the Syracuse Camera Club, Bruce Laidlaw and Phil Stone of the 1940’s trail construction effort and perhaps some other guests will discuss the creation of the Morningside Cultural Trails, the beauty , history, legends , diversity , recreational and creative opportunities. Slides of the Morningside gardens, Gates by local photographer Steve Pearlman; interesting memorabilia and documents will be shown. 10-17-17 11 AM-12:30 PM– INVASIVE PLANTS SUNY-ESF is inviting the community to a discussion with a representative from the State of NY on Invasive plants, what they are , how to spot them and where and how to report them. Details on the location will be announced shortly.
10-20-17 6:30 PM ESF Ghost walk– This will be a walk connecting the 13 areas most associated with ghostly experiences. Stay tuned for more details
UPCOMING THIS FALL\To Be Announced
Tree Trail Walk; ESF students will lead interested community members on a .6 mile walk linking 15 trees. Especially good for families or those new to tree ID or anyone wanting a pleasant fall stroll through one of our loveliest wooded areas.
Flat trail walk– a stroll along the newly developed .67 mile long “Flat Trail” will be announced as soon as the information on the trail is completed.
Possible 5K run/walk is being discussed
